Human physiology causes a range of neurological diseases to manifest. People are often in a nervous state. But nerve cells do not restore or grow as muscles or bones. Besides, the nervous system has a tight bond with the brain and spinal cord. Damage to even a tiny part of them can lead to severe consequences. So, among the common neurological diseases are:

One of the main causes of impairment worldwide is neurological diseases. These disorders can be a reason for genetic factors, infections, and trauma. And such a problem can arise at any age. Neurological disorders can manifest both physically and psychologically. It can affect mental, physical, and social abilities. And if the symptoms are not alleviated, the condition can significantly worsen the patient’s life. So, a timely visit to a neurologist is essential. This doctor can help find problems in your nervous system and prescribe therapy.

list of 5 common neurological disorders

List of Neurological Disorders

Injuries, age changes, and negative life factors – all contribute to neurological conditions. With age, the probability of such illnesses increases. Thus, regular examination by a neurologist is mandatory. After all, the human body accumulates negative factors from an incorrect lifestyle. It can be stress, nervousness, and a bad environment. The nervous system can not ignore it. So, over time, it all turns into neurological diseases. Pathological states of the nervous system have three groups:

  • a group of diseases with damage to the central nervous system;
  • a group of disorders with damage to the peripheral nervous system;
  • a group of conditions involving both the central and peripheral nervous systems.

That is, neurological disorders can occur in any system of your body. And, of course, among them, some are found in people most often. Which exactly? Keep a list of neurological disorders:

1. Migraine

It is a complex and exhausting neurological pathology. It periodically occurs and is localized more often on one side of the head. And this causes pain and problems for the sick person in social life.

If you don’t start treatment in time, it can provoke visual disturbances and nausea. Also, symptoms can progress by provoking stress factors, food allergens, and strong external influences.

2. Alzheimer’s

It is a disease of the nervous system that leads to dementia. It has gradual, slow development. During it, the mental abilities of the patient decrease. The signs of a neurological problem worsen over time. Typically, it affects people over 65.

The hallmark features of Alzheimer’s are the presence of abnormal protein deposits in the brain. They are amyloid plaques and tau tangles. They interfere with the communication between brain cells and lead to cell death. It results in cognitive function and memory loss.

3. Epilepsy

This disease is a common neurological pathology that affects every hundredth person on the planet. So, epilepsy is on the top list of neurological disorders. It manifests in the form of motor, vegetative and mental disorders. During an attack, a person completely loses control over their actions.

Epilepsy can have a significant impact on a person’s daily life. So it’s vital to receive appropriate care from medical professionals. With good treatment, many people with epilepsy can lead full and active lives.

4. Stroke

It is a critical failure of blood circulation in the brain. This neurological disease forms brain-wide or localized neurological signs. And mainly, it affects older adults over 60.

80% of brain strokes are of the ischemic type. It is characterized by an arterial vessel’s lack of supply to the brain. The greater the area of blood vessels overlap, the greater the damage to the brain. The patient’s condition, method, and recovery duration depend on the damage size.

5. Asthenic syndrome

Almost every person is under constant stress and has a lack of sleep. It is the main trigger for the development of asthenia. It is a common neurological disorder characterized by severe fatigue.

Common illness symptoms are high fatigue, irritability, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. If you ignore it, sooner or later, the disease leads to severe mental health diseases and not only that.

signs of neurological problems

First Signs and Symptoms of Neurological Problems

Do you feel headaches, dizziness, and tingling? All these seem to be normal signs of the body. So, not all people attach importance to it as they think it is usual. However, when you experience the manifestation of these symptoms constantly and with increasing intensity, it is a reason to consult a neurologist. After all, neurological disorders have various symptoms, from mild to very serious. Their first signs depend on their type and place of appearance in the nervous system.

The biggest problem is that the initial signs of such illnesses are not visible. You may have the usual mild headache, which you relieve with a pill. But when it begins to manifest itself, it becomes clear that it is a manifestation of some disease.

In any case, any neurological disease is dangerous due to its complications. The most severe of which is coma and death. Thus, in case of detection of the next signs of neurological problems, consult a neurologist:

1. Speech disorders

This symptom can be a manifestation of various common neurological disorders. It includes cerebral stroke, brain injury, dementia, epilepsy, paralysis, and coordination disorders. Speech disorders can manifest in various ways, depending on the type of infection.

Thus, immediately consult a doctor when you notice changes in speech. Timely treatment of neurological diseases will save you from harmful consequences.

2. Headache

Headache is a common symptom that can have a bond with various neurological diseases. When the headache is a manifestation of such problems, the next pain signs are possible:

Pain can be local in different parts of the head.

Accompanying signs include phobias, fatigue, nausea, and others. Headaches can be long-lasting and recurrent in the case of migraine.

3. Convulsions

A seizure is a sudden nervous system excitation and unusual brain activity. It starts in one body part and can spread to another. The main symptoms of attacks include unpredictable, rhythmic body movements and muscle spasms.

There are also other signs of neurological problems of seizures. They have less obvious symptoms and manifest as dizziness, strangeness, and muscle spasms.

4. Chronic pain in the back and neck

Most often, pain in the back and neck is a reason for infections in the spine. It is one of the most common manifestations of neurological disorders. It can be osteochondrosis, scoliosis, and herniated disc. And it manifests itself as follows:

  • Muscle weakness in the neck and back.
  • A feeling of pressure, tightness, or pressure in the neck and back.
  • The discomfort increases when sitting or standing for a long time.
  • Restriction of movements in the neck or back provokes painful spasms.

5. Burning and tingling in different parts of the body

Paresthesia or tingling in the body is a sensation that is a “pinching” feeling in various parts of the body. This sign of neurological problems can be temporary or last longer. It depends on its cause.

Paresthesias can be isolated or felt all over the body. This feeling can be due to various reasons:

  • pressure on the nerve;
  • mechanical damage to nervous tissue; static state;
  • an extended stay in one position.

Just such an amazing staff that makes you feel like part of their family. I’ve been going there for over 5 years now... and each visit I get the very best care and treatments that I have ever received in the 20+ years that I’ve been dealing with severe debilitating migraines. Since i started seeing them the number of my migraines has dropped from 15-20 a month to 2-3 every 3 month. I highly recommend them …they will change your life!read more

Dr. Askari was very kind and explained everything so I could understand. The other staff were nice as well. I would... have gave 5 stars but I was a little taken aback when I checked in and had to pay 600.00 upfront. I think that should have been discussed in a appointment confirmation call or email just so I could have been prepared.read more

I was obviously stressed, needing to see a neurologist. The staff was so patient and Dr. Ansari was so kind. At one... point he told me to relax, we have time, when I was relaying my history of my condition. That helped ease my stress. I have seen 3 other neurologists and he was the only one who performed any assessment tests on my cognitive and physical skills. At one point I couldn't complete two assessments and got upset and cried. I was told, it's OK. That's why you're here. I was truly impressed, and super pleased with the whole experience!read more

Since my first post my thoughts have changed here. It's unfortunate. My doctor and PA were great, but the office staff... is horrible. They never call you back when they say they will, they misinform you, they cause you too much stress wondering what's going on, they don't keep you posted. They never answer the phone. At this point I've left four messages in the last week, and I have sent three messages. Twice from their portal and one direct email. No response. My appointment is on Monday morning at 8:30am, no confirmation on my insurance and what's going on. What the heck is going on, this is ridiculous!I've given up... the stress her office staff has put me through is just not worth it. You can do so much better, please clean house, either change out your office staff, or find a way for them to be more efficient please. You have to do something. This is not how you want to run your practice. It leaves a very bad impression on your business.read more

I love going to this office. The staff is friendly and helpful. The doctor is great. I am getting the best... neurological tests and treatment I have ever had. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating is because it is impossible to reach a live person at the office to reschedule appointments. Every time I have tried to get through to the office it says all people are busy and I am sent to a voicemail. If they could get their phone answering fixed, I would give them a strong 5 stars.read more

She's so attentive, knowledgeable, caring, and detail oriented. She makes an otherwise uncomfortable experience much more pleasant and definitely puts me at ease! Let me start by saying that I have been coming here for years. Due to my autoimmune disease, I am in this office... once every three weeks for multiple hours at a time. The office is very clean and the staff very friendly. My only complaint would be there communication via phone. They aren't the best at responding if you leave a voicemail and expect a call back. I understand that this is prob just due to the sheer number of alls they receive daily. What I can say I like the best about the office are the people. Bobby who handles my infusions is great. I never have any issues with her setting up my infusions. She is very quick to reply to messages sent via text and if she were to leave then my whole opinion of the office may change. I also enjoy people like Matt, Lauren, and Jodi. I appreciate all that they do for me and without this team I'm not sure I would be as happy as I am to visit the office as frequently as I have to. Please ensure that these folks are recognized as they are what makes my visit to this office so tolerable :).read more
