The nervous system plays a vital role in human health. Often, neurological diseases have not only a genetic effect but also an external one. Environmental factors can have a rapid impact on human health. Environment and lifestyle are the main factors for health. Healthy sleep, proper nutrition, and activity have a positive effect on brain function and neurological conditions. It is important to know that environmental factors and exposure frequency play an essential role.

Environmental factors have a significant influence on neurological disorders. When people are constantly exposed to pollutants, they are exposed. Environmental risks have an impact on multiple diseases. In general, they affect the functionality of the brain and destroy its structure. As a result, a person can get various diseases, depression, poor mental health, and memory problems.

Overview-of-Environmental-Risk-Factors-for-Neurological-Disorders

Overview of Environmental Risk Factors for Neurological Disorders

Environmental risk factors for neurological disorders play an important role. The environment and lifestyle are closely related to a person’s neurological condition. They have both good and bad effects on human health and the brain. A healthy living environment and a good lifestyle are the keys to success. When living conditions deteriorate and the environment becomes unsuitable and polluted, problems arise. These factors affect the nervous system and the brain and change its functions. It is essential to understand what precisely from the environment has a powerful effect on health. Here are the main factors:

  • Heavy metals
  • Pesticides
  • Industrial chemicals

These substances are strongly linked to neurological damage. Constant inhalation of these metals has a harmful effect on the brain. Lungs suffer, and blood flow to the brain decreases. Environmental risk factors for neurological disorders cause various diseases. Often, such toxic substances can cause memory impairment and cognitive impairment.

Both for adults and for children, such chemicals are particularly dangerous. Disorders of the nervous system often occur in children because their bodies are still developing. This chemical even affects the heart and cardiovascular system. Environmental pollution is a significant cause of poor health.

The Link Between Air Pollution and Brain Health

Air pollution and brain health are interconnected, especially nowadays. Continuous construction and emission of harmful substances cause air pollution. A few minutes in such air will not do anything to your body. However, as research has shown, regular exposure to such air can lead to various diseases. Often, this process causes problems with the brain and the resulting neurological diseases. The emission of small solid particles is a significant cause for concern.

  • Fine solid particles (PM2.5) have a negative effect on brain function. They cause oxidation, which is accompanied by impaired memory and cognitive functions. Usually, these particles travel through the lungs and through the bloodstream to the brain. Air pollution and brain health are interconnected, and these particles are proof of this.
  • There are also other substances, such as nitrogen dioxide or carbon. They often cause brain dysfunction and cause mood disorders. Decreased cognitive function, persistent depression, and poor health are the consequences of these substances. Reducing exposure to these substances will allow for good health and clean air.

Impact of Chemical Exposure on Neurological Diseases

Chemical exposure and neurological diseases are closely related. When these chemicals are released into the air it causes various neurological diseases. Often, a person can face such diseases as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease. Even the release of these substances into the air and various solutions can cause serious problems. It is important to know the primary sources of chemical exposure and their role in the neurological system. Here are some examples:

  • Industrial chemicals. Industrial chemicals have a severe effect on the brain. They can cause diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. Industrial chemicals have a powerful effect on cognitive functions and the work of the brain in general.
  • Pesticides. Chemical exposure and neurological diseases are related in the long term. Pesticides are often used for agriculture or domestic work. With long-term exposure, they have a harmful effect on the brain. After some time, a person may notice a neurodegenerative disorder that can lead to Parkinson’s disease.

2 Overview of Environmental Risk Factors for Neurological Disorders

Lifestyle and Environmental Influences on Brain Health

Environmental impact on brain health has been severe for a long time. The environment influences the functionality and development of the brain. In addition to emissions of various substances into the air, a lifestyle affects brain function. Dietary choices, physical activity, and sleep play an important role. Here is their effect on the body:

  • Diet. Diet plays a vital role in brain function. Nutrients and vitamins contained in products are essential. They help maintain brain health. A variety of fruits, berries, fish, and fiber are very useful. They play an essential role in human memory, concentration, and cognitive functions.
  • Physical activity. Environmental impact on brain health is also manifested in physical activity. An active lifestyle, especially outdoors, has an important place in a person’s life. Maintaining physical activity is better reflected in a person’s health and in the work of his brain. A person who does sports often has a good mood and avoids stress.
  • The influence of sunlight. Sunlight is beneficial for humans. It contains a large amount of vitamin D, which is necessary. It has an effect on the skin, hair condition, metabolism, and brain. Often in winter, doctors prescribe special vitamins that contain vitamin D

Climate Change and Its Impact on Neurological Disorders

The environmental influences on the nervous system are profound. It is important to understand that climate change is also essential for human health. Changes in air quality have a negative effect on the brain. High temperatures can also cause sunstroke. Nowadays, it is tough to monitor your health. However, it is possible to do this using some preventive measures. Often, a person does not understand why they may experience symptoms. In other cases, natural forces can be the cause of various diseases. Natural disasters and fires release harmful substances into the environment. They are among the causes of neurological disorders. Climate change is just one of several environmental factors. Sudden changes in the weather and various natural disasters can severely impact health. It can all start with constant stress, worry and cognitive decline.

Just such an amazing staff that makes you feel like part of their family. I’ve been going there for over 5 years now... and each visit I get the very best care and treatments that I have ever received in the 20+ years that I’ve been dealing with severe debilitating migraines. Since i started seeing them the number of my migraines has dropped from 15-20 a month to 2-3 every 3 month. I highly recommend them …they will change your life!read more

Dr. Askari was very kind and explained everything so I could understand. The other staff were nice as well. I would... have gave 5 stars but I was a little taken aback when I checked in and had to pay 600.00 upfront. I think that should have been discussed in a appointment confirmation call or email just so I could have been prepared.read more

I was obviously stressed, needing to see a neurologist. The staff was so patient and Dr. Ansari was so kind. At one... point he told me to relax, we have time, when I was relaying my history of my condition. That helped ease my stress. I have seen 3 other neurologists and he was the only one who performed any assessment tests on my cognitive and physical skills. At one point I couldn't complete two assessments and got upset and cried. I was told, it's OK. That's why you're here. I was truly impressed, and super pleased with the whole experience!read more

Since my first post my thoughts have changed here. It's unfortunate. My doctor and PA were great, but the office staff... is horrible. They never call you back when they say they will, they misinform you, they cause you too much stress wondering what's going on, they don't keep you posted. They never answer the phone. At this point I've left four messages in the last week, and I have sent three messages. Twice from their portal and one direct email. No response. My appointment is on Monday morning at 8:30am, no confirmation on my insurance and what's going on. What the heck is going on, this is ridiculous!I've given up... the stress her office staff has put me through is just not worth it. You can do so much better, please clean house, either change out your office staff, or find a way for them to be more efficient please. You have to do something. This is not how you want to run your practice. It leaves a very bad impression on your business.read more

I had such a good experience with Lone Star Neurology, Brent my MRI Tech was so awesome and made sure I was very... comfortable during the appointment. He gave me ear plugs, a pillow, leg support and blanket, easiest MRI ever lol 🤣 My 72 hour EEG nurse Amanda was also so awesome. She made sure I was take care of over the 3 days and took her time with the electrodes to make sure it was comfortable for me! Paige was also a huge help in answering all my questions when it came to my test results, and letting me know her honest opinions about how I should go forth with my treatment.read more

The professionalism and want to help attitude of this office was present from the moment I contacted them. I love going to this office. The staff is friendly and helpful. The doctor is great. I am getting the best... neurological tests and treatment I have ever had. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating is because it is impossible to reach a live person at the office to reschedule appointments. Every time I have tried to get through to the office it says all people are busy and I am sent to a voicemail. If they could get their phone answering fixed, I would give them a strong 5 stars.read more

Dr. Harney is an excellent Dr. I found him friendly , personable and thorough. I evidently am an unusual case. ... Therefore he spent a Hugh amount of time educating me. I have had the best experience at this neurologist's office! For over a year I have been receiving iv treatments here... each month and my nurse, Bobbie is beyond wonderful!! She's so attentive, knowledgeable, caring, and detail oriented. She makes an otherwise uncomfortable experience much more pleasant and definitely puts me at ease! Let me start by saying that I have been coming here for years. Due to my autoimmune disease, I am in this office... once every three weeks for multiple hours at a time. The office is very clean and the staff very friendly. My only complaint would be there communication via phone. They aren't the best at responding if you leave a voicemail and expect a call back. I understand that this is prob just due to the sheer number of alls they receive daily. What I can say I like the best about the office are the people. Bobby who handles my infusions is great. I never have any issues with her setting up my infusions. She is very quick to reply to messages sent via text and if she were to leave then my whole opinion of the office may change. I also enjoy people like Matt, Lauren, and Jodi. I appreciate all that they do for me and without this team I'm not sure I would be as happy as I am to visit the office as frequently as I have to. Please ensure that these folks are recognized as they are what makes my visit to this office so tolerable :).read more
