Toni Smith, AGACNP-BC
Toni earned her Nursing degree from the University of Texas-Arlington. She began her career as an intensive care RN (ICU), working mostly in the cardiovascular ICU for nearly 10 years before earning her Master’s of Nursing from Texas Tech University Health & Sciences Center.
She began her career as a nurse practitioner working in neurology under the mentorship of an epileptologist. During this time she gained extensive experience coordinating care for patients with epilepsy and medication refractory epilepsy as well as other neurological conditions. Her experience with patients who suffer from medication refractory epilepsy, which is roughly 35% of this patient population, includes care management with the use of a vagus nerve stimulator (VNS). She was selected to attend the prestigious Penry Epilepsy Conference at Wake Forest University in 2021, further expanding her knowledge in the field of neurology and epilepsy.
She joined Lone Star Neurology – Rockwall in 2022. Since joining the practice she continues to provide patient-centered and compassionate care. She has had the opportunity to expand her patient care to include those who suffer from migraines, neuropathy, strokes, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and memory loss. She approaches each patient’s care with their goal in mind, helping provide medical guidance and recommendations based on each individual’s unique and delicate situation.
When she is not dedicating her time to caring for her patients she spends it with her family that include her spouse and her 5 children. Her hobbies include weight lifting, traveling, attending her kid’s sporting events, watching college sports, and walking with her dog.
